New Year's Eve?

I've been hearing  a lot about New Year's Eve, so I googled it.  Apparently, the calendar runs out today and begins again, brand new, tomorrow.  What an interesting concept this time thing is.  I'm so lucky to be a tortoise and not have to deal with the time thing.

Anyways, in addition to it being New Year's Eve, it's also my mom's birthday.  I also had to google this to find out what a birthday is.  It seems as though a birthday is when you celebrate the day you were born.  I don't know when I was born.  I know it took forever to get out of that egg though.  It was about 4 or 5 months ago, but that's all I know.

So my mom was born today, 25 years ago.  I'm still working on this time thing, and I don't know how much 25 is, but I decided to dress up for the occasion.  I was already a gift for Christmas, another strange day when they celebrate some guy named Jesus's birthday.  Anyways, since I was already a gift, I thought I'd do it again.

Check me out, I'm a present!  Happy birthday Mom!

Look how pretty I am!

I wasn't ready for the picture.  But I'm handsome anyways!

I hope you all have a safe and happy New Year!  Best wishes, and much love, Steve.

Hump day...

Once again, Mom had to work.  But as usual, she woke up, gave me my warm morning bath, put my light on, and it was superb.  I love how she does these little things for me.

And she bought me a present!  Since I love the colour yellow (it's my favourite) she bought me a squash!  She cut it up into tasty tortoise morsels, and it's beautiful!  I didn't eat it right away, I knew I'd eat it all so quickly and it'd be gone.  When I finally got to it, I swear, it was the best thing I've ever eaten.  It's yellow, and it's just absolutely to -die- for!  Definitely my favourite!  In addition to the squash, grandma cut up some spinach leaves for me.  I love spinach.  Then I ate some of my hay, and I'm exhausted.  Today has been exciting, with new food, warm baths, and lots of love.

I think it's nap time until I decide to rearrange my hay again.  My weigh in and measuring will be Saturday.  I'm looking forward to this!

The squash was so good, I had to just lay in the dish and relax with it for a few minutes.

You can't see it, but there is squash in my little tortoise mouth.  So delish, you must try it!

Over and out, Steve!

Just another day being a tortoise.

Today was a good day.  I woke up to a warm bath and soaked up some heat from my lamp.  Sam and Charlie did not appreciate this.  They don't want to share the heat lamp, even though it's mine, and I don't mind sharing!  Brothers suck sometimes!

Anyways, I got some visitors today.  My aunt and cousin came over to see me.  I basked in the sun by the back door for awhile, and got caught up on my shell a lot.  This shell is kind of a hinderance sometimes.  The floor here at home looks like food though.  I tried and tried, but couldn't get it in my mouth.  Maybe I'll try again soon.  Then I ate some spinach, and then had to go back to my tank so Mom could get ready for work.  I've decided that Mom works too much.

Anyways, that's about it for my day yesterday.  I slept while Mom was at work, and cruised around my cage.  Pushed my hay around.  I like redecorating.

The floor looks delish.  Why can't I bite it?!

Warm baths + basking = <3

Another day in the life of Steve.

Today seems to be getting off to a good start.  Granny woke up early, turned my heat lamp on, and moments later, I felt great.  Mom finally dragged her lazy butt out of bed, and commented on how active I was this morning!  I guess she doesn't realise that my heat lamp is the same as her coffee.  Are all moms this dumb?

Anyways, so she chopped up a radish into delectable Steve sized bites, gave me some fresh spinach, some fresh water, and watched me chow down for awhile.  I had worked up quite the appetite rearranging my room this morning.

After breakfast, I tried to eat the yellow lid off my brother's (Sam Dean and Charlie (they're red eared sliders)) Reptomin.  Unfortunately, I didn't realise there was a barrier between my mouth, and their Reptomin.  That little fact displeases me greatly, it looks delish, and I really must try it.

But today is going to be a great day in the sulcata world.  I can just feel it in the air.

What kind of bull is this?!

So, my "mom" wakes me up this morning by dunking me in a warm bath of water, and turned my heat lamp on.  What an amazing way to wake up.  I basked for awhile, then ate some spinach, and I cruised around my tank.  She dried me off, and left.

I'm the best Christmas gift in the world, and where's Mom?  Who the hell knows, but we need to have a talk when I see her again.  She can't just up and leave me here, with Granny.  I mean, what if I wanted to go out and hang in the sunshine and grass for a little while?  Yeah, guess I can kiss that goodbye.

This is crap, and I fully expect to be compensated when she decides to come home.  I demand the following items:  spinach, radishes, a warm soak, and plenty of attention...  Even though I don't require cuddly attention, it'd be nice to be appreciated for all I do around here.

I am outraged.

I'm a gift to...

My new owner.

I'm Steve, and I'm a sulcata hatchling.  They say I'm between 4-5 months old, and damn am I cute.  Basically this blog's main purpose is to document my growth, size, and the over all learning experience I am destined to become with my new owner.

Admittedly, she's done -some- research on me and my bretheren, but she's still learning, and that's okay.  Thus far, she knows I need to be soaked, warm, and admired for all of my beauty.

My day was exciting.  Do you know how difficult it is to be a Christmas gift?  It's not easy.  They stuck a damn baby Jesus to my back, let me walk into the living room, and this daffy red head didn't even notice me!  Granted, I'm tiny, but I had to walk around with Jesus on my back, pretending to be a wise man as I got hung up on Granny's wheel chair, totally humiliated, until she decided to notice me.

But it's all good, yo.

Not much else to write.  I'll end this with some pictures of myself and all my glory.

Stay tuned for more turtle head news.
